From Village Roots to National Vision: AKALPAM Sets a New Benchmark in Pure Desi Ghee

In an era when food adulteration and declining nutritional authenticity are growing public concerns, a rural-born brand from Auraiya district is redefining trust in traditional dairy products. AKALPAM, the country’s first ODOP (One District One Product) based pure desi ghee brand, is emerging as a symbol of purity, heritage, and responsible entrepreneurship.

Founded by Govind Yadav, a native of Bela village in Auraiya, AKALPAM reflects the spirit of rural India while adhering to modern quality standards. The brand represents a harmonious blend of ancestral wisdom, scientific validation, and a deep commitment to preserving the authenticity of Indian food traditions.

Auraiya’s Dairy Legacy Finds a National Platform

Auraiya has long been known for its strong agricultural base and dairy culture. For generations, families in the region have reared cows and buffaloes, making fresh milk, curd, butter, and desi ghee integral to everyday life. This ingrained tradition laid the foundation for AKALPAM’s philosophy.

As an ODOP-based initiative, AKALPAM highlights the uniqueness of Auraiya’s dairy heritage on a national stage. The ODOP initiative aims to promote district-specific products, encouraging localized economic growth while maintaining traditional expertise. AKALPAM proudly stands as the first desi ghee brand in the country to align itself with this vision.

The company reports that its ghee has successfully passed over 230 quality parameters. Tested at one of India’s leading accredited laboratories, the product met all prescribed benchmarks for purity and safety. This rigorous testing reinforces the brand’s claim of delivering uncompromised, chemical-free desi ghee to consumers.

The Bilona Method: A Return to Authentic Craftsmanship

Central to AKALPAM’s identity is its unwavering reliance on the traditional Bilona method of preparation. Unlike industrial shortcuts, the Bilona technique begins with curd made from whole milk. The curd is churned using a wooden churner (mathani) to extract butter. This butter is then gently simmered over a slow flame until it transforms into aromatic, golden ghee with its signature granular texture.

This method not only preserves flavor but also aligns with Ayurvedic principles. Practitioners of Ayurveda traditionally consider Bilona ghee beneficial for digestion and overall vitality when consumed in moderation. AKALPAM positions itself as a brand that respects these time-tested insights while ensuring modern compliance and hygiene standards.

Free from preservatives, additives, or artificial enhancers, AKALPAM ghee is recognized for its natural aroma and rich taste—qualities that many consumers associate with village-made authenticity.

The Entrepreneurial Journey of Govind Yadav

Behind AKALPAM is a story of professional success redirected toward social purpose. Govind Yadav pursued management education at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and later at Indian Institute of Management Kashipur. After completing his studies, he embarked on a corporate career with an annual compensation of approximately ₹45 lakhs.

However, in 2016, Yadav made a life-altering decision to leave the corporate world and dedicate himself to rural development and food authenticity. He established SRDP Agri Pvt Ltd, an organization aimed at creating self-employment opportunities for rural youth within their own communities. Within three years, the venture achieved a turnover of nearly ₹45 crores, demonstrating both scalability and grassroots impact.

Despite his professional achievements, Yadav faced a personal dilemma. Living away from his village for over a decade, he struggled to find desi ghee that matched the purity and taste of what he had grown up consuming. Even premium market brands fell short of his expectations.

This search for authenticity became the seed for AKALPAM. Motivated by a desire to revive genuine flavors and fulfill his father’s longstanding dream, Yadav launched the brand with a clear guiding principle: purity above profit.

He has openly expressed concerns that adulterated ghee and refined oils contribute to serious health issues, including heart disease and arterial complications. Through AKALPAM, he seeks to provide a trustworthy alternative grounded in transparency and tradition.

Corporate Expansion with Cultural Foundations

On January 23, 2026, coinciding with Basant Panchami, AKALPAM inaugurated its new corporate office in Kanpur. The occasion marked a strategic step toward national expansion. Company representatives outlined their long-term plans, emphasizing strict quality controls and sustainable sourcing practices.

The inauguration day also featured a Vedic Yajna conducted in the divine presence of respected spiritual leaders from Ayodhya. The ceremony symbolized the brand’s spiritual and cultural grounding, reinforcing its commitment to ethical practices and consistent quality.

A Growing Movement Toward Food Integrity

AKALPAM is steadily gaining recognition not merely as a dairy brand, but as a movement advocating for food integrity and rural empowerment. By combining laboratory-tested standards with traditional production methods, it bridges modern assurance and ancestral knowledge.

As consumers increasingly seek transparency and authenticity in their food choices, AKALPAM stands poised to expand its footprint across India. The brand’s journey—from the soil of Auraiya to a structured corporate presence in Kanpur—illustrates how rural traditions can evolve into nationally respected enterprises without sacrificing their essence.

With a steadfast commitment to purity, heritage, and community development, AKALPAM aims to establish itself as a trusted name in India’s natural and traditional food segment.
